Railway Lines In the Ocean

Can railways be laid down in the oceans??

The Pamban Bridge.....

In the South of India, there lies a Bridge build in the Indian Ocean. It connects the Pamban Island to the town of Rameshwaram. The length of the bridge spans around 2.3 kms roughly in the world's second most corrosion affecting environment after the city of Florida in The USA.

The maintenance gets more challenging as its being highly prone to seasonal cyclones. It is located in the mid of the sea where wind also plays a major destructive role.

It is India's first sea bridge and was longest untill the opening of Bandra-Worli sealink in Mumbai.
