In India, the eastern states receives the maximum rainfall of the season. Mawsynram, a place in the state of Meghalaya receives maximum annual rainfall around the world.

Mawsynram is followed by another place in the state of Meghalaya, Cherapunji.

Cherapunji and Mawsynram combine holds record for maximum rainfall from past 80 years.
